This is a small piano concerto for a rather moderate-sized orchestra. It was inspired by my observations of the planet Mars during its aphelic opposition to Earth in the first months of 2012 (and also - guilty as charged - by some readings of Edgar Rice Burroughs's A Princess of Mars).
